John Murphy Shield

Congratulations to our u19 soccer team who won the John Murphy Shield in Tipperary Town AFC grounds on Wednesday 22nd May. It was a hard fought game against Scoil Mhuire, Kanturk which saw Nenagh College come from 2-0 down to level at 2-2 with 20 minutes to go through goals from Cian Carmody and Dylan McCormack. As we were pushing for a winner, Kanturk caught us on a break and won a free kick which they scored from. The lads rallied again and Eamonn Coonan came up with an equaliser a few minutes from time to level the game at 3-3 and send the game to penalties.
After a nail biting penalty shoot-out in which Dylan Ashman made 2 great saves, it was Aaron Cusack who scored the winning penalty and Nenagh College came out victorious 4-3. Celebrations began and captain Cian Carmody was presented with the shield along with his 6th year peers who were graduating that night. Congrats to all the players and coaches, Mr. Quinn and Mr. Gleeson!!
