TY Health Promotion Week

Our Transition Year students had a hectic schedule last week when taking part in the “TY Health Promotion Week”.

The group engaged in a Digital Detox beginning each day by handing up their phones to Mr. Shrahan in order to highlight the importance of taking time away from the distractions of social media.

Throughout the week, the TY class had informative and inspirational talks including:

  • Paralympic Athlete Cillian Dunne – detailing his story of overcoming adversity to become a sporting champion.
  • Joe Slattery – staff member of the Task Force on Community Substance Abuse and Misuse.
  • Phil Keating from the Marie Keating Foundation with the theme of “Your Health – Your Choice”.

Each afternoon the class took part in unique physical activities including a Mixed Gender soccer match, Wheelchair Rugby and Paint-balling.

To finish off the Week the TY group were brought on a social outing to the Cinema and breakfast in D’Mothers Cafe.

A big Thank You to all our guest speakers and well done to the TY group for their participation!
