Big Brother Big Sister 2018

Big Brother Big Sister at Nenagh College is off to a flying start this year. Our TY students were eager to meet our new first year students taking part in the programme. The group have gone on walks together, competed in an anti-bullying poster competition and recently completed Christmas baubles. Well done to all.

TY Ice-Skating and Christmas Shopping

The Transition Year students from Nenagh College enjoyed a Brrrrrrrrrilliant day out in Dublin this week! Students were entertained at Dundrum on Ice and you can see, great fun was had by all. If you look closely enough you might even spot some of the brave teachers…they were certainly skating on thin ice! Students then enjoyed some Christmas shopping in Dundrum Shopping Centre. A wonderful start to the festive season. Thanks to TY Year Head Mr. Shrahan for arranging such an enjoyable day.

Intercultural Day 2018

Nenagh College was delighted to host Intercultural Day 2018. With stalls representing food and culture from many different countries in Europe and all over the world, it was a fantastic opportunity for our students to experience different dishes unfamiliar to them. The event was organised and hosted by our PLC Social Studies class, TY EU Studies Class and 6LCA. All proceeds were in aid of Temple Street Hospital.

Our First Years enjoyed their workshop in the Hunt Gallery today where we met Ceramic Artist Mike Byrne. They studied the art of Vessel making and the students are now inspired to create their own creations in Visual Art Class Tomorrow.

We also attended A Viking Workshop where all the Viking were investigated and handled.

Finally we visited A Romanian Exhibition, Muldova and it’s culture and art, food and textiles were investigated. The day was led by the Education Officer Maria Cagney at the Hunt Museum, Ms. Beirne (Art ) and Ms. Slattery (PME English and Irish) We are most grateful to her and her team for the day and look forward to our In house Workshops on 15th December.

Faroige

Nicole Byers Ryan graduated with a first class honours qualification in NUIG in October.

She achieved this qualification as a result of completing 3 leadership courses run by Foroige in collaboration with Nenagh College.

She linked her 6th year LCA curriculum to complete her community leadership project, this allowed her to achieve a excellent standard in this award. Well done Nicole. Nicole is now a PLC student in Nenagh College of Further Education, where she is studying Level 5 Information/Data Processing and Office Administration.
