  • As part of a Key assignment for their HCT,Ā  Hotel, Catering andĀ Tourism module, students had to make a tourist trail withinĀ Ireland. They choose Galway as their area to research and visit.Ā Each student had to identify a tourist activity in Galway. WeĀ visited them and they gave a presentation at their chosen touristĀ sight.ā€‹

  • Nenagh College Home Economics Gingerbread houseĀ Competition was open to all students, the only rule was that allĀ elements of the gingerbread house had to beĀ edible.Ā CongratulationsĀ to Ana and Marina who won joint firstĀ place for their beautiful creations.Ā ā€‹

  • 5thĀ and 6thĀ year students were treated to a very interestingĀ guest speaker who showed them different ways to be creativeĀ with food to help reduce food waste in our homes.Ā ā€‹

  • 5thĀ year Home Economics Students took Well Being weekĀ seriously when they made Scones for every student and staffĀ member in the school. They then served them with Tea or Coffee.

5th Year Ag Science students using mapping software to find the area of our school pitch, they then took soil samples and will now send these to Teagasc for analysis.

Pallas Karting Trip

Wellness Week 2024

Nenagh College held their wellbeing week from 22ndĀ 26thĀ January 2024, it started off with a whole school assembly, where the Nenagh College community came together to celebrate achievements and to look ahead to a positive week.

During the week there was a wide range of activities, including Try it Tuesday, where students got the opportunity to try out either Zumba, Jiu Jitsu or yoga/meditation.

Garda Maureen visited and educated students about drugs and how to be cyber safe.

TY students took part in the ā€œBrilliant Mondays Workshopā€ where Stephen Kiernan provided examples of how ordinary people can achieve extraordinary things. Students worked with Stephen to follow the cycle of: Vision ā€“ Planning & Strategy ā€“ Resilience ā€“ Continuous Improvement.

Paula Duggan a nutritionist, spoke to students about nutrition, social media, sleep and exercise.

TY students took part in the Adventure and Precision Challenge, where in the UL Sports Arena they enjoyed the Climbing Wall and the Archery activities. Their final activity was to Pallas Go Karting, Portumna.

All students took part inĀ Walk on Wednesday, where students took advantage of the new walk way on the school grounds.

The First year Business Studies mini company provided hot chocolate in reusable cups.

All students engaged in meditation on Thursday.

The woodwork department made a Tree of Life, where students and staff were encouraged to add their positive quotes and things, they are grateful for. Ā Students decorated the school with positive quotes.

 

On Friday all students connected with each other while enjoying morning tea/scone in the canteen.

VEX Robotics Mid-West Regional Final

Nenagh College, represented by the NC Warriors, participated in the Mid-West Regional Final on January 23rd. The VEX team demonstrated outstanding dedication over the past few months in preparation for this event. The competition, centred around the over-under challenge, saw Nenagh College achieve success by reaching the semi-finals.Ā CongratulationsĀ to the team for their hard work and accomplishments, and best wishes for their continued success in future competitions. #VEXRoboticsIE #excellence #community

 

Limerick Animal Welfare Visit

Nenagh College had a very special visitor on Tuesday. Freddie from Limerick Animal Welfare(LAW), accompanied by his owner Chris who is also a volunteer at their sanctuary in Kilfinnan, gave a talk and presentation to the 3rd Year students on the amazing work the charity does.
Freddie was a real hit with all the students and staff and was delighted to take away all the pet food donations for his friends at the sanctuary, along with 145 euro that the students raised during their coffee morning.

John O Meara a 6th year Leaving Certificate Applied student completed his practical achievement task on Homelessness and organised a non-uniform day for the charity.Ā  John O Meara and Evan Quigley visited The Simon Community in Nenagh, where John was interviewed on Tipp FM about his view on the role of The Simon Community and homelessness.
The Simon Community believes in communities of mutual support that foster hope, independence and community. They provide people who experience homelessness with a sense of identity andĀ  promote meaningful engagement in a non judgemental way. they provide emergency accommodation, permanent housing, access to food and support services.

VEX Robotics Scrimmage

Nenagh College successfully hosted its inaugural VEX Robotics Scrimmage on Tuesday, December 19th, with the valuable presence of VEX representatives from Dell who officiated the event. The college extended a warm welcome to CBS Nenagh and Castletroy College, adding to the collaborative spirit of the occasion. This event served as excellent preparation for the upcoming Mid-West Regional Event scheduled for January 23, 2024, in Limerick.

The VEX team expresses gratitude to Dell for generously providing the necessary equipment to facilitate the event. Additionally, heartfelt thanks are extended to CBS Nenagh and Castletroy College for their active involvement. The collaborative efforts showcased during the scrimmage not only underscore a commitment to excellence in education but also strengthen the bonds within the educational and robotics communities.
