Fire Safety

On Monday 12 May, TY students had the opportunity to attend an engaging and informative talk on fire safety, delivered by Dearan and Robby, two local fire service professionals. The session covered essential topics such as how to prevent fires at home, what to do in case of an emergency, and the importance of working smoke alarms. Students also got a close-up look at real firefighting equipment and heard first hand stories that highlighted the importance of staying calm and prepared. A huge thank you to our guest speakers for sharing their expertise and helping our students become more safety-aware.

School Rugby

Our U17’s Rugby team took part in a local blitz against Nenagh CBS. They played three 15-minute games with an even score of 3-3 after the first. CBS edged ahead in the second game with a final score of 6 -4
We took a two try lead early on and remained extremely competitive all throughout the game. A Conor Ryan try in the final third brought the score to 6-5 but the blitz finished with a score of 10-5 to CBS.
A number of standout performances from our guts including all our try scorers, Oisin Ryan in the centre, Cullin o Brien at scrum half and Thomas Ryan and Daire Boland who carried strongly throughout
Well done to all involved and a mention also for the speedy recovery of Oisin Ryan who picked up a hand injury.

Our U15s also put in a strong showing at the local blitz, narrowly losing to a solid CBS side who went on to beat Borrisokane 5-0. Great effort from the team throughout!

Third Year Habitat and Biodiversity study

Our 3rd year students had a great day of scientific exploration in Cabragh Wetlands in Thurles last week. We went to the wetlands to conduct our Habitat and Biodiversity studies for Junior Cycle Science. While there the students got to use the equipment and explore the natural world around them and to learn more about the web of life that sustains our planet. A huge thank you to all the staff at Cabragh Wetlands for a great experience on the day.

5th Biology Habitat Exploration

Our 5th Biology students had an incredible hands-on learning experience! They explored habitats in the woods around Birr Education Centre. This experience gave the students a deep appreciation for the intricate balance of ecosystems—observing flora and fauna, using ecology equipment, and studying adaptations all bring textbook concepts to life.
