Anti Bullying 1st Year SPHE Poster Competition
Mr Cox and Ms Maharaj’s SPHE classes aimed to raise awareness on the issue of bullying by making posters with their own slogans. Jennifer Shiels in 6th Year LCA organised a poster competition for the best posters and displayed them on the noticeboard in the canteen. The winners were presented with canteen vouchers. Thanks to Ms. Melley for organising the prizes.
Embrace Farm Charity
Embrace Farm Charity came into school to give a talk on Farm Safety- Directors Angela Hogan And Peter Gohery gave a very heartfelt talk about the very real life consequences of dangers on the farm and about farm safety. Darragh Campbell from 6th Year LCA collected €164.00 for the charity through a raffle held in school. Prizes were generously donated by the local businesses in Nenagh. A huge thank you to all that took part in the raffle. It is a really worthy charity!
Artist Philip Ryan meets with Second year Art group
On Friday 9th of December, Artist Philip Ryan (a former pupil of Nenagh College) met with Ms Beirne’s Art class. Michael Shoer particularly enjoyed the piece “Transition.” Designed and crafted from recyclable materials, this Pop Up Gallery is open each Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. It is located in Quentins Way and includes inspiring works by Josephine Geaney and many other local talented painters. Thank you to Mr Philip Ryan who generously gave his time.
RTE Personality to judge Nenagh College Talent Show.
Nenagh College are delighted to have an RTE presenter as a judge for this year’s Talent Show. The students have put in many hours of practice with their Music Teacher, Ms. Tierney, in the hope of impressing their celebrity judge.
Bláthnaid is a well- known Irish TV presenter and Gaeilgeoir. She has presented Echo Island, The Afternoon Show and Charity ICA Bootcamp. She was also a judge in The All Ireland Talent Show and participated in Celebrity Bainisteoir.
She can now add judge in Nenagh College Talent Show to her impressive CV.
Blathnáid recently graduated from UCD with a Degree in Women’s Studies and is a sister of Nenagh College staff member, Máire.
Nenagh College Talent Show is on Thursday 15th December in the school Sports Hall. Tickets available on the night.
Butlers Chocolate Experience
Ms Tobin and Ms Carey’s second year Home Economics classes had an enjoyable trip to Butlers Chocolate Experience. They first looked at a film about the history of chocolate and the history of Butlers Chocolates. They then took a walk through the chocolate museum and had a look at the action on the factory floor. They ended their visit in the Experience room where they got to practice what they had learned to be a chocolatier and decorate their own chocolate Santa.
