The Overall Student of the Year Award went to Paddy Ryan, a student of the QQI Applied Social Studies programme. Paddy was a highly-motivated student who combined attending college with full-time work in the social and caring sector and the daily demands of family life with young children. He had excellent attendance and was a huge support to fellow students, particularly the younger members of the group. Paddy always had a fun-loving, positive attitude and approach to life bringing his many life experiences to enhance the learning experience of everyone, students and tutors alike.
In acceptance of his award Paddy spoke about the importance and value of education. He advised the senior students of Nenagh College who were present at the awards ceremony to make the most of their opportunities in Nenagh College and to always consider returning to education at any stage in life, it was the best thing he did.
We would like to wish Paddy and all of our PLC students the very best for the future. Go n-éirí an bóthar libh go léir!

Nenagh College has been awarded Ambassador School Status for Cycle Against Suicide and will attend an awards ceremony in Dublin in September.
The Ambassador School Programme established in 2013 aims to encourage schools to become actively involved in mental health promotion. The programme provides a framework for schools to integrate mental health activities into the school plan and rewards schools who go the extra mile. The programme also aims to recognise innovative and effective initiatives and facilitates schools to share and showcase good practice.
Nenagh College really enjoyed engaging with this programme and found it to be a worthwhile experience. Through the school’s work on mental health education, Amber Flag committee, guidance services, project work, physical activities, artwork, a positive mental health week, the Darkness into Light Walk, and much more, the school’s application impressed the programme’s coordinator Diane Charleton.
Thanks to both staff and students for their involvement and hard work throughout the year to reach this.
