Nenagh Choose Respect Campaign

Nenagh College is proud to be part of the Nenagh Choose Respect Campaign, whose aim is to highlight the unacceptable normalisation of abusive language and behaviour witnessed in our society.

The South-East Technological University Visit

Jess Lawton from The South-East Technological University (SETU) visited 5th & 6th Years in Nenagh College on Wednesday 11th October 2023. Visits in by College liaison officers, aims to get students to consider their progression options after the Leaving Certificate. They also aim to provide students with relevant information about courses available, as well as information on entry requirements, student support services, insights into student life, the various study pathways, and tips on how to prepare for college life. Many thanks to Jess for coming out to see us in Nenagh College.

 

U19 boys Nenagh College V Gaelcoláiste Luimnígh.

Our under 19 boys started their campaign with a home tie against Gaelcoláiste Luimnígh.
On what felt like a summer’s day in Brickfields the game got under way with Nenagh enjoying a lot of the early possession. Pressing hard for the opener we were unlucky not to open the scoring missing a few good chances. The breakthrough finally came from a wonderfully struck free kick from Jake.
Gaelcholáiste grew into the game and drew level after finding a pocket of space through our midfield.
Nenagh were pressing hard and were creating chances but our finishing was letting us down.
Late into the first half Nenagh seemed to be pegged back with pressure from the limerick outfit and were made to pay when they took the lead to go in 2-1 up at the break.
Shortly after the restart the Nenagh lads were showing excellent fighting spirit creating chance after chance but couldn’t find that finishing touch and were made to rue those missed chance when went 3-1 and then shortly after 4-1 behind.
Nenagh rallied late into the second half and pulled one back when a ball up to the forwards was knocked on by Cullin O’brien into the path of the on rushing Dylan McCormack who finished it very well.
Unfortunately, it was not to be on the day for the Nenagh boys who showed great heart and determination.
We wish Gaelcholáiste Luimnigh the best in the next round of the competition.

Under 17 Boys soccer

Our under 17 Boys soccer team got their season off to a flying start last week with a hard-fought win away to Newport College.
The game began with both side reluctant to give too much possession away. The game then came to life with a strong run into the box from Jake resulted in him being fouled and taken down for a penalty. He dusted himself down and tucked the ball nicely into the corner for 1-0
Newport grew into the game and drew level halfway through the first half with a very well taken free kick. They then began to pile on the pressure with the aid of a stiff breeze took the lead with moments to go in the first half.
Nenagh grew into the game in the second half and drew level shortly after the restart with another well taken strike by Jake. You could see Nenagh’s confidence was up, and they struck again shortly after with a well taken goal by Aaron.
Newport began pressing hard for an equaliser and were made to pay when a fine break from Nenagh led to Tino putting us 4-2 up.
Newport had not given up and with less than 5 minutes left on the clock scored against the run of play to set up a nervous last few minutes, or so it may have seemed.
Direct from the restart a mesmerising run by Aaron led to him finishing excellently into the bottom corner.
An excellent start to the season for the boys.
Thanks to Newport for an excellently contested game.
