Congratulations to our 3rd year Engineering student David Holland on being the first of 47 students in 3rd year Engineering to complete his junior cert “Forklift Project”
His Engineering teacher Mr. Heffernan is extremely proud of him for achieving this as it’s something David put a lot of effort into throughout the past few months.

Indian Cookery Lesson

Ms Carey’s 5th and 6th year Home Economics students had the delightful opportunity to participate in an Indian cookery lesson led by Ms. Maharaj. They prepared a variety of dishes, including Onion Bhajis, Butter Chicken, Indian/Irish Chicken, Bombay Aloo, rice, and poppadoms. It was a fantastic day where everyone enjoyed learning about new flavors and techniques that are not typically found in Irish cuisine. A heartfelt thank you to Ms. Maharaj for generously sharing her time and expertise with us!

St Vincent De Paul

Clodagh Lenihan was welcomed by TY and LCA students in Nenagh College, where they learned about the role of St Vincent De Paul in our community.
The Society of St Vincent de Paul provide a wide range of services for vulnerable people through their local offices, shops, resource centres, housing, day care and holiday schemes, they provide personal visiting, education grants, social housing supports, community and family services, adult and older people services, child and youth services etc
Nenagh College are currently working on creating innovative projects to fundraise and increase students awareness of the role of SVP in our society. Ms O Keeffe will attend the Youth Conference in the Radisson Blu in Limerick on the 10th April with her team of young SVP senior students.

Nenagh Arts Centre

Nenagh college  students and teachers enjoyed a visit to Nenagh Arts Centre .
Art teacher Edwina Knight opened her solo exhibition “Immersions – the art of lake swims” earlier this month.
Her paintings and videos installation are about her interaction with the lake and her enjoyment of the quiet ritual of each lake swims .

Seachtain na Gaeilge

An tseachtain seo caite, bhí Seachtain na Gaeilge againn ar scoil. Ghlac na daltaí páirt i ngníomhaíochtaí éagsúla i rith na seachtaine – tráth na gceist, scannáin, cluichí, comórtais agus rinneamar iarracht bhreise ár dteanga a labhairt. Bhí Lá Glas againn ar an Aoine chun airgead a bhailiú do LauraLynn Children’s Hospice. Sheinn ár ngrupa ceoil ceol traidisiúnta dúinn ag am sosa. Bhain muid go léir taitneamh as an tseachtain. Mar a deir an seanfhocal, ‘beatha teanga í a labhairt’.
Last week we had Irish week at school. Students took part in various activities during the week – quizzes, films, games, competitions and we all made an extra effort to speak our language. We had a green day on Friday to raise money for Ireland’s Children’s Hospice LauraLynn. Our trad group played tunes for us during break time. We all really enjoyed the week. As the saying goes ‘The life of a language is to speak it.’

Nenagh Schools’ Public Speaking Competition

The Nenagh Schools’ Public Speaking Competition organised by Nenagh Lions Club, took place in the Main Council Chamber in Tipperary County Council Civic Offices yesterday. We are very proud of our team, Sebastian Siwek (Captain), Killian Lane, Blanca Wrona and Xander Gregan, who eloquently discussed the topic, ‘Lough Derg – local amenity or natural resource?’ with powerful, well researched speeches. Well done! Thanks to Nenagh Lions Club for organising and Tipperary County Council for hosting this event. The team are pictured with their medals, together with Mr. Don O’Brien, Nenagh Lions Club, Ms. Mairead Sammon, English Teacher and Ms. Catherine O’Keeffe, TY Co-ordinator.

FET Open Day

Students from Nenagh college visited the FET open day in Limerick. They toured the FET Campuses at Mulgrave Street and Central College Limerick. Thanks to the staff and students at both colleges for facilitating the visit. A special thanks to Margaret Meehan from LCFE and Olive Ryan in CCL for their warm welcome and for showing us around and taking the time to go through the various courses on offer and how to apply. We had the pleasure of meeting last year 6th year leaving cert students Rhain Bray and Charlie Williams who are both completing a QQI level 5 courses.
