La Semaine Française

Nenagh College celebrated their annual French Week with a range of activities to promote the language and raise the students’ cultural awareness. Students took part in French quizzes and a poster competition, which was judged by Art teacher Leonie Beirne. French cuisine was available to sample and past pupil William Meagher returned with his ever popular crepe machine. The week was rounded off with a French-themed non-uniform day. Earlier in the year French students also enjoyed a visit from French Theatre for schools, where some students took part in the play.

TY Introduction to Oil Painting

Ms Knights Transition year students enjoyed a 2 hour “Introduction to oil painting” workshop today with Rosaleen and Ann where they explored several painting techniques including palette knife, scumbling and washes.

Hannah Grace Handball

Congratulations to first year student Hannah Grace who won the Girls First Year Singles Munster 40×20 College’s Handball Final on Sunday 27th January. Hannah represented Nenagh College defeating Leanne Gould from Borrisokane Community College in the County Final which put her through to the Munster Semi-Final where she defeated Sarah Mason from the Presentation, Castleisland. She went on to defeat Fina Close from St. Joseph’s, Tulla in the Munster Final in Cappagh, Co. Limerick.

ETB Cookery Competition

Congratulations to Kieran O Connor and Lana Comerford who took part in the first ETB Cookery Competition in Colaiste Mhuire Co-ed Thurles on Thursday the 24th January. Lana took first place in the junior section of the competition and Kieran was commended on his professionalism. Well done to both! Peter Ward of County Choice Nenagh was judging.

 

Limerick College of Further Education and Central College Limerick

5LCA, 6LCA and some traditional 6th year students visited open days in Limerick College of Further Education and Central College Limerick.

These visits was followed by buffet lunch in the Jasmine Palace Restaurant where a key assignment was completed as part of Hotel, Catering and Tourism.

A wonderful day was had by all – well done to all from your LCA co-ordinators Ms Maharaj and Ms O Keeffe

 

5LCA Work Experience

5LCA and 6LCA students attend work experience every Friday where they learn communication, team working and time management skills.
