Congratulations to our 5th year students who took part in the Gael-Linn competition and won Fáinní Gaeilge. We are very proud of their achievements. Tús maith leath na hoibre!
Ms O Keeffe would like to thank Clodagh Lenihan (youth officer, with The Society of St Vincent de Paul, SVP) who spoke to 5th year LCVP and 6th year LCA students on Tuesday 30th April, about the foundation of the charity and the role they play in society.
They are involved in many projects such as personal house visits, education grants, supporting adult, older people, child and youths, social housing projects, holiday breaks etc.
The charity secures finance from donations and also from its 230 local Vincent’s charity shops located in every county around Ireland. The Vincent’s charity shops are a very important aspect of the service SVP provides. Not only do they provide people with new or lightly worn items at affordable prices, they also provide an income source for the Society, which is recycled directly back into the community.
We had an early start for our last day with a cultural tour of Fair Verona. Our students got to visit the 2,000 year old Roman Arena, one of the best preserved Amphitheaters in the world. The walked the historic steps and got to imagine life as a Gladiator in Roman times. It was then onto the more romantic setting of Juliette’s house and famous balcony from Shakespeare’s tale of doomed lovers. They were then free to explore the beautiful city of Verona before heading to the airport for the journey home. The accompanying teachers would like to compliment all the students on their impeccable conduct, attitude and manners throughout the trip. It was a pleasure to bring them on this trip. Well done to all. 
Our 3rd day was all about fun and entertainment. We spent the day at the excellent Gardaland Resort where our students got to go on the great variety of roller coasters and amusements. It was a day of freedom for them to make memories with their friends and scare the life out of themselves on the vertical drops and loops of the rides. They topped off the day with Bowling and McDonalds. A very tired bunch on arrival back to the hotel.
Today our students had an early start as we went to the famous city of Venice. We were treated to a water taxi trip into the city, approaching the most famous scenes from the sea and arriving in St. Mark’s Square.The students learned about the city’s rich history during a walking tour. They were also given a demonstration of the intricate glasswork in the showrooms of Murano Glass. After spending some free time exploring the city for themselves we returned to our bus by water taxi. A day of great memories for all.
Our TY and 5th year students had an early start today leaving Nenagh College at 2am to catch their flight to Milan. From there we hit the road to Lake Garda: Sirmione. Students explored the town before taking a scenic boat trip taking in all the historic location along Lake Garda. They then took a tour inside Castello Scaligero including the battlements and ramparts. We then made our way to the holel to check in and rest up for Day 2, a tour of Venice.
