Olympic Handball

On Friday last, we got up and running with our Olympic Handball teams. We had a very positive turnout with the students excited to build on last year’s successful Munster and All Ireland campaigns.
Training will continue Fridays in the PE Hall at 1:30pm. Anyone not on the panels is more than welcome to come to the trainings or let Mr Gratton know they are interested.

National Ploughing Championships 2025

Our Transition Year and agriscience students had an unforgettable day exploring all things agricultural, tech and tradition at the National Ploughing Championships.

We left school at 8am for a day trip to Screggan, Co. Offaly for the National Ploughing Championships where plough men and women come from all over the Island to compete in their skilled work.

Students explored a wide variety of exhibits, from the latest in farm machinery to vintage equipment, with some competitors even harnessing traditional workhorses to plough the fields—offering a vivid glimpse of rural Irish life a century ago.

There were many trade and information stands all over the large site, displaying the businesses and products which they created themselves

These proved especially valuable for Transition Year students currently developing their own mini-companies, while Agriscience students gained insight into farming innovation.

The students completed a ‘selfie challenge’ to capture the array of exhibits and experiences during the day. Great experiences, big smiles and mucky boots!

📢 Welcome to our new TY IT Technicians! 💻

Last Thursday, two of our TY students (Christy Flury and Joshua Whiteford) began their work experience placement as IT Technicians here at Nenagh College. 👩‍💻👨‍💻

As our Digital Leaders, they will be assisting with stock taking, computer updates, and supporting the smooth running of IT across the school. Their contribution is already proving invaluable to our day-to-day operations.

Ms. O’Malley is delighted to welcome them to the department and looks forward to sharing her IT expertise with the next generation of digital leaders.

Well done to both students – we’re excited to see all you will achieve! 🚀

Lunchtime Gym

Students have been making the most of their lunch break by getting a workout in at the gym 🏋️‍♀️. It’s a great way to stay active, build strength, and spend time with friends before heading back to class. Love seeing the effort and energy they bring every day! Students have the opportunity each week on a Tuesday to go through a guided gym session with Mr. Forde

Big Brother, Big Sister

Our first-year students had a fantastic time connecting with their mentors during the Big Brother Big Sister mentoring programme in Nenagh College. The programme is packed with fun activities, pair work, and team-building games designed to help everyone get to know each other better. They enjoyed lively “getting to know you” activities and creative challenges. There was plenty of laughter, energy, and positive interaction throughout. It was a wonderful opportunity for our students to build new friendships, settle into school life, and feel supported as they begin their first month and indeed their journey in Nenagh College. Building strong connections. 💬🤝

Millennium Cross Hike

On Thursday, our first years had their first outing as a whole year group. As a class they braved the poor weather conditions to climb up Millennium Cross.
In doing so they got a chance to meet students from other base classes and interact with new classmates they may not have got a chance to do so with up until now.
Showcasing great resilience, all students made the climb and did so in great spirit, not allowing the occasional rain shower to dampen their spirits.
There already looking forward to their next climb!!
