Farewell to first year Spanish student

On Friday the students of 1A said “Adiós” to Maria Zorrero our Spanish student.  Maria, joined us from Seville, Spain in September and really enjoyed her time in Nenagh College over the past four months. We wish Maria the very best upon her return home we would like to wish Maria ‘Feliz Navidad’

St Vincent de Paul Collection

On the lead up to Christmas, staff and students of Nenagh College collectively raised €1,100 to donate to St. Vincent De Paul.

Last Friday 18th December Student Council representative Jason Kinsella and Staff Social Committee representative Mr.Brian Quinn presented the cheque to Mr. Harry Martin and former staff member Mr.Tim Maher, both representatives from Nenagh Branch of SVP.

Food Appeal for The Simon Community

Thank you to all those who contributed to our Student Council Food Appeal, we were delighted with the amount of food that was donated. We would like to thank Fr Michael and Fr Des who collected the food on behalf of The Simon Community.

 

The Student Council also ran a Christmas Jumper Day in aid of St Vincent De Paul, raising €442. Thank you Ms C. O’ Keeffe in assisting with the Student Council as Liaison Teacher.

Wellbeing Walk

Before closing for Christmas second, third, fifth and sixth years benefited from a wellbeing walk in Dromineer to finish what has been a long term.  Each group had a very enjoyable day away from the classroom in the fresh air experiencing the local beauty.

Transition Years have a busy term

Our TY students have been very busy since returning after Halloween Break, the group have completed:

First Aid & Manual Handing Courses, Kickboxing Programs, Hospitality Skills Courses, Art Workshops, Mini Companies Program and Glad to be Me Seminar.  The group rounded up the term with a range of activities including Mini Golf, Go Karting & Skiing.

TY students have received 100% positive feedback from their teachers and celebrated with a pizza lunch.

TY Jewellery Workshop

TY students were involved in making beautiful beaded jewellery with Quay Arts today.  Rosaleen Rainford with her colleague Ann Hayes worked with the students to create some amazing pieces just in time for Christmas gifting.  Thank you to our fabulous Transition Years and Quay Art for a great work shop.

Choose Safety Course

Nenagh College Transition Year students have completed the Health & Safety Authority ‘Choose Safety’ course with their teacher Ms. Kearney and each received a Certificate.  The ‘Choose Safety’ course aims to promote increased awareness and understanding of health and safety issues in the workplace, which the students found invaluable.
