Think Languages Quiz

Our Think Languages events were in full swing again today, kicking off with the exciting Think Languages Quiz! We had a blast competing against schools from across Ireland and discovered so much about the fascinating languages and vibrant customs from around the globe!
Today’s canteen special took us on a culinary journey to China with a delicious dish of crispy chicken balls smothered in tangy sweet and sour sauce—an absolute treat!
Zoe, with Blanca’s fantastic support, led an engaging and lively German workshop for our first-year students! They explored numbers, days of the week, and so much more, including a fun filled game of bingo. Zoe treated everyone to delicious homemade Lebkuchen as prizes—baked specially for the occasion!

French Lesson with 4th Class Students from Gaelscoil Aonach Urmhumhan

We welcomed fourth class pupils from Gaelscoil Aonach Urmhumhan  to a French lesson led by our Think Languages Champion team with the assistance of their TY classmates. There was great fun learning the numbers and the song Head, Shoulders, knees and Toes. The pupils were then treated to a crepe from our French café.

Munster Olympic Handball Competition

On Wednesday, we brought 4 teams all the way down to Neptune Stadium in Cork City to compete in a Munster Olympic Handball competition. A total of 46 students travelled and represented the school brilliantly.
In the juvenile girl’s competition, the girls were in hard luck narrowly losing two group games and unfortunately didn’t make it to the finals.
The boy’s juvenile team came second in the group stages and competed in the final as a result. They came up against a strong St Brendan’s who won out 5-2 but were unlucky to concede two late goals.
The boy’s junior team faired similarly as they also came second in their group and again faced reigning All Ireland champions, St Breandan’s. The boys put up a great fight and even took a 3-2 lead early in the second half before St Brendan’s finished strong to win out 6-3.
Finally, our junior girls team went undefeated and topped their group. They faced St Aloysius’ College in the final where they were victorious on a scoreline of 3-1 to be crowned Munster champions.
All in all, our juvenile and junior boys were crowned runners up in all of Munster while our junior girls are now Munster champions!!!
Well done to all students who travelled and completed today and best of luck to our junior girls who will go on to compete in the All-Ireland stage
