National Concert Hall

On Tuesday 21st of March our junior music students took a trip to the National Concert Hall in Dublin. Here they attended a concert called “Music in the Classroom with the National Symphony Orchestra. This concert was built around the new junior cycle music learning outcomes. Using some of the greatest orchestral music, The National Symphony Orchestra, presenter Tom Redmond and conductor David Brophy explored how live music can be written in response to a stimulus; how music can depict a character and their relationships; how incidental music can be used to change mood; how to interpret, rehearse and perform a piece of music; how to hear short musical phrases and ostinatos can be used to create a much bigger work; how different musical styles can be fused; how environment can influence a composer. An excellent day out and well enjoyed by all.
